01 What are the Nepal?

All tourists/ travelers of foreign nationality (apart from India) must obtain Tourist Visa to enter Nepal.

On Arrival Visa may be obtained from the Department of Immigration (DOI) at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Pokhara International Airport, Gautam Buddha International Airport in Lumbini, and Entry Points of Nepal. Tourist Visa may also be obtained from Diplomatic Missions of Nepal in respective country or nearest one, prior to travel. Indian nationals do not need visa to enter Nepal. Chinese nationals have provision of Gratis Visa.

02 What is the best way to reach Nepal?

You can fly to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. There are also international airports in Bhairahawa and Pokhara. Nepal Airlines is the national flag carrier of Nepal with flights to/from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Bangkok, Tokyo, Doha and Hong Kong. Nepal is also connected to different parts of the world through top international airlines. 03 What is the political situation like in Nepal at the moment?

Political situation in Nepal is stable. Parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

04 Is it advisable to travel to Nepal during this time?

Spring is a good time to visit Nepal. Weather is moderate, air is crisp and views are clear. Tourist areas are always safe. Due to the upcoming election, we exercise travelers to exercise caution while venturing out of tourist areas.

05 What places can I visit?

08 How safe is it to visit Nepal?

Nepal is safe. Safety of tourists is of prime concern for all in the Government and private sector. Tourist Police, special unit of Nepal Police, is designated to ensure safety of tourists.

It is a good idea to be in touch with your Embassy in Kathmandu when in Nepal.

12 How much cash should I exchange to stay comfortable?

Please carry cash enough for daily expense. Major debit and credit cards are also accepted in most parts of city areas. Do carry cash or arrange phone pay options when traveling to rural parts of Nepal.

13 How are the roads and infrastructure?

Nepal is a developing country. Therefore, infrastructure in some parts may be under construction. However, most tourist areas have necessary infrastructure to facilitate tourists.

14 Are tourist sites and services in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini and other destinations open for tourists?

15 What precautions must I take to ensure my safety while in Nepal?

Please stay informed and in communication all the time during your travel.
