Travellers are advised to defer trekking in the Manaslu and Tsum Valley areas temporarily until further information is available.
Current reports indicate:
- A landslide has disrupted the route towards Tsum Valley.
- Two bridges has collapsed at Namrung on the Manaslu Circuit.
- The District Administration Office, Gorkha has issued an official notice advising temporary halt on trekking in the affected area until a further notice is published.
The District Administration notice specifically reports damage to bridges connecting Chumnubri Rural Municipality Wards 4 and 5, as well as a suspension bridge on the Budhi Gandaki route towards Namrung, following flooding early on 6 September.
Advice for trekkers
If you are planning to trek in Manaslu or Tsum Valley, please defer your departure and wait for updated information on trail, bridge and access conditions.
If you are already in Nepal and want to start trekking, the Annapurna Circuit is an alternative to consider, or speak with your local trekking outfitter about other suitable routes.
September is still part of Nepal’s monsoon period. Temporary landslides, damaged trails, swollen rivers and transport disruptions can occur on trekking routes at this time of year. Conditions can also change quickly, which is why local information matters.
This advisory relates specifically to current access problems in Manaslu and Tsum Valley. It should not be interpreted as an advisory against trekking elsewhere in Nepal.
For now: defer Manaslu and Tsum Valley, check locally, and consider an alternative route if you wish to trek immediately.
